Glimpses of Thailand

Bangkok 3 nights
Chiang Mai 2 nights
Chiang Rai 2 nights
Pattaya 4 nights (Phuket, Cha Am or Koh Samui also available)

Day 1 : Fly to Bangkok.

Day 2 Bangkok: Arrive Bangkok. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax, enjoy a leisurely swim or head out and start soaking up the atmosphere of this incredible city.

Days 3-4 Bangkok: Two full days at leisure in buzzing, bustling Bangkok. Perhaps join optional excursions (additional charge) to the elaborate Grand Palace with its plethora of stunning temples, the exquisitely decorated Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) or the solid gold 5½ ton Wat Trimitr Buddha. Bangkok is also a great shopping city, whether at one of the gleaming malls or colourful markets, and with over 50,000 places to eat, the city has just about everything on the menu.

Day 5 Bangkok/Chiang Mai: Transfer to the airport for tne hour flight to the "Rose of the North", Chiang Mai. On arrival, you will visit the celebrated cottage industry centres and see the craftsmen mastering Thai handicrafts. After setting into your hotel, don't miss the opportunity to step out to the night bazaar and take the opportunity to haggle for a bargain or two!

Day 6 Chiang Mai: Travel to Chiang Dao to see the elephants and watch them bathing in the jungle and then visit a Lisu hill tribe who continue to follow a lifestyle which remains, in many respects, virtually identical to their ancestors in Tibet. After lunch relax and watch the forest scenery as you gently travel down the Ping River aboard a bamboo raft. Later visit a waterfall and orchid farm, where a feast for the eyes awaits you with the vast varieties of orchids. Return to Chiang Mai.

Day 7 Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai: Take in the natural landscapes this morning as you drive through scenic winding roads to visit the White Meo hill tribes and observe their simple way of life. Continue to the Wat Phra That temple which is 3,000 feet above Chiang Mai and one of Northern Thailand's most sacred temples. A 3½ hour road transfer takes you to north to Chiang Rai and the infamous "Golden Triangle".

Day 8 Golden Triangle: Travel by four wheel drive jeep to visit the Png Nam Ron region to see elephants and the remote Lahu hill tribes. Take in the spectacular jungle scenery, mountain trails and waterfalls as you continue to the Baan Ruam Mit Karen long neck hill tribe village, whose people continue with the unique tradition of extending their necks with rings. Return by long tailed speedboat along the Mae Kok River to Chiang Rai.

Day 9 Chiang Rai/Pattaya: Fly 75 minutes to Bangkok and onward by road to Pattaya to end this superb holiday on the beach. Alternatively, you can opt to stay in Phuket, Hua Hin, Cha Am or Koh Samui.

Days 10-12 Pattaya: Three full days at leisure in bustling Pattaya, which has great beaches, excellent shopping and a colourful nightlife.

Day 13 Pattaya/Bangkok: Return to Bangkok where your tour concludes with your onward journey.
